In further explanation of the telegram I despatched to Your Lordship on August 26th., I have the honour to submit the following additional details regarding the crime alleged to have been committed by Adsetts, and to offer a few observations upon the matter for Your Lordship's consideration.

2.

The man Adsetts arrived here from Manila on the 3rd of August by the S.S. "Eastern" accompanied by a woman who has since been identified as one Gertrude Dayton. They passed as man and wife under the name of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jones and stayed at the Hongkong Hotel. On August 4th, Adsetts took a trunk on board the S.S. "Monteagle" and asked the Quarter Master to put it in the Baggage Room saying he had booked a passage and would follow later. The man did not return, but took passage on another vessel for Shanghai.
